The system for handling magistrates' conduct, pastoral and training matters

This document, agreed by the Lord Chancellor and the Lord Chief Justice, sets out how Magistrates conduct, pastoral and training matters will be handled from 3 April 2006. The issues of conduct, welfare and training can be complex, and are often interconnected. The Lord Chancellor, in his reformed role as the minister responsible for relations with the judiciary and the administration of courts, and the Lord Chief Justice, in his new role as Head of the Judiciary of England and Wales, have agreed a comprehensive package of procedural guidance for Advisory Committees and Bench Chairs.
